Carmine Banshees

Belinda was the eldest of four daughters in the Carmine family, a diligent household of farmers who worked the hard lands of Duvall’s barony. Born with ambitions far above her low station, she was strong-headed, idealistic and possessed an elegance that set her apart from her fellow farmhands.  

It was with a mixture of dread and delight that she accepted the summons to Baron Duvall’s court. Seen as a saviour by many, the Baron’s firm-but-fair rule had led to an era of stability and meagre prosperity. But darker tales were told in hushed tones, of brutal violence and foul magics surrounding the court. Belinda’s introduction to the Baron quickly banished her fears. His manner was the epitome of gentlemanly grace, as he spoke clearly and softly: “Belinda, your radiance outshines even the moon itself. Stay a while and hear my proposal”. 

Entranced by his charming courtship and the allure of a life beyond her humble origins, Belinda found herself drawn to the Baron's world. One evening beneath the glow of moonlight, he knelt before her, offering not just his hand in marriage but the gift of the Blood Kiss, sealing their bond for eternity.

As the time passed, the once charming facade of her husband began to crumble, revealing a tyrant consumed by violence and ambition. Her sole companion in these dark times was her lady in waiting, Siouxsie. Together, they delved into forbidden tomes of blood magic, their clandestine meetings a sanctuary from the suffocating confines of Belinda's marriage. Yet as the pair’s bond grew, Duvall's jealousy festered.

Belinda knew with haunting certainty that it was only a matter of time before Duvall would come for Siouxsie with envious fury. Fueled by desperation and a thirst for freedom, Belinda and Siouxsie fled the court. Under the cloak of secrecy, Belinda and Siouxsie ventured into the ancient woods that bordered the Carmine lands. There, amidst the whispering trees and eerie shadows, they performed a ritual long forgotten by most but whispered about in the darkest tomes. Calling upon the spirits of their vengeful sisters and invoking the power of blood magic, they summoned sanguine banshees from their long-forgotten graves.

With hair as black as night and eyes that glowed with an otherworldly light, the banshees heeded Belinda and Siouxsie's call, drawn by the promise of vengeance against those who wronged them, they ventured into the heart of the Cursed City. With its whispers of forgotten power and untold secrets, amidst the ruins and the chaos, they would find the strength to forge their own destiny, in Mordheim.
